The Course
Description
The
course starts near the Taneum Junction campground on Road 33.
Runners are on Road 33 for about one mile where they will turn left
onto trail 1377. At the trail split you will turn right onto trail
1326 which you will follow to Windy Pass. Just before the pass you
will turn left on trail 1377 that takes you all the way to the
finish.
The entire
run is on trails (except for the first mile). You can find the
route on Green Trails map 241.

The
course will be marked on the Friday before the race with yellow
“Montrail” flagging (bright yellow flagging with Montrail in bold
black print). Please note that these trails are frequently used by
dirt bikes; we hope there is no destruction or removing to the
flagging.
Aid
Stations
·
Aid
stations are marked on the course map.
·
Full
aid stations
are at approximately 12 and 21 miles. There will be a selection of
standard aid station fair (bananas, salt, cookies, chips, pbj, etc)
and a sports drink. These will be manned.
·
We will
also have water only aid stations throughout the course.
There will be 2 before the 12 mile station, 1 between the 12
mile and 21 mile station and 2 between mile 21 and the finish.
These may or may not be manned.
·
Drop
bags will be
allowed at the two full aid stations at miles 12 and 21. These will
be delivered back to the start/finish. NOTE: if you do not pick up
your drop bag or arrange for its delivery its contents will be
thrown away or donated to Goodwill.
·
There is
virtually no course access from mile 12 until mile 21. Please take
your time at aid station #1 (mile 12) if you are not feeling good
and evaluate if you are able to make it to 21. If you do drop,
notify the aid station captain.
·
Cut-offs: you
must be to aid station #1 (mile 12) by 11:15 am and to aid station
#2 by 2:00 pm to ensure that our volunteers get home at decent
hour. If this does not give you enough time, please consider the
early start.
·
Be sure to
check in at each aid station – show your number clearly.
Crew
·
Crewing
Cle Elum entails driving on narrow windy mountain roads that are
used by logging trucks.

not allowed on the course, but can be in the aid stations on-leash.

are permitted at start/finish area and in crewing areas.
